Texas

On July 16 I took off to Texas with Brenna and Blake. The reasons why I took only those two kids are many and boring, so I'll skip that part.
Brenna really loved the airplane. Here she is putting stickers in a notebook, one of the many activities I packed to keep her busy. We arrived at midnight, then had to collect baggage, get to the car, and drive to my parents' house. The kids handled it all surprisingly well, I thought.
The 16th was a busy day. We went to this little water park. Blake wouldn't go near it, and Brenna and Luke both were a bit hesitant, but they got brave and had a great time.
This is just about the cutest picture I've ever taken of Blake. What a handsome little guy! After the water park we went to Katy Budget Books, home to take naps, to the Deerfield pool, and to see Harry Potter. A busy but very fun day!
On the 17th we packed up and drove to San Antonio. Michael met us there. We wandered the Riverwalk for a while, then wandered around the Alamo. It was closed, so we didn't go inside, but the kids probably wouldn't have wanted to go in anyway. Then we went back to the Motel 6 for what would have been a good nights' sleep if Blake hadn't been there.
On the morning of the 18th we did the boat ride on the San Antonio River. It was pretty fun. Brenna seemed to like it.
Obviously Papa had a good time.
After the boat ride we drove to Austin to see Mikey's house, work, school, etc. We ate some really really good food in Austin. If I lived there I'd probably weigh 300 lb.
Here's Mikey with the kids at the hotel in Austin. The next morning we drove back to Houston and spent most of the day just chillin'. We did go to a little party at the Brunner home, where I was able to see a few of the people I knew when I was in high school. ( I saw a few of the people I used to babysit, and now they're in college. Surreal.)
I only got one picture of Blake crawling in Texas, so I had to include it. He chose that week to start exploring.
Here is the little man on Monday at the grocery store. Look at his little feet.
Luke and Brenna shared a cart. They had fun playing together.
Monday was my big 'friends' day. I went to lunch with Jonathan (no picture, darn it) and to dinner with Tara, Aron, and their daughter Violet. Brenna got to eat 'macaroni cheese' both times, so she was happy. And I loved seeing my friends! I had the best friends when I was in High School, I really did!
The next day we woke up early and flew home to Utah. It was a really great trip!

Wow! I haven't seen your Mom and Dad for ages! They look so happy playing Grandma and Papa. All their grand kids sure do look like Ortons! Strong genes!
